Jim Sherpa

"Jim Sherpa .. is the greatest washtub bass player ever... a great innovator on the instrument." -  Bill Garrett, Metafilter.com

It was a long and twisted path that lead Jim Sherpa
to make his living playing an instrument made out
of a piece of clothesline,  a path that took him to New Orleans,
Oswego, NY,  and many other destinations.
We in Djug Django keep asking,
"How does he do it? .... Why does he do it?..."
It's baffling how he has become the heart and soul of the band,
the rock solid pulse that the dancers love,  the steady drive
that lifts the band up and out of the ordinary.

Completely amazing,  when you think about it.
